PRESS RELEASE MAY 22, 2026

The Brandon-Westman Christmas Cheer Registry, Inc. would like to thank the Honorable
Glen Simard, MLA for Brandon East, and the Manitoba Government for its recent $500,000
donation from US liquor sales and for targeting food insecurity in Westman. The provincial donation was received on May 1, 2026.

Since then, the Registry has disbursed $275,000 to seven local charities (Brandon Payout Report) and $125,000 to 38 rural Christmas Cheer Boards and food bank organizations (Rural Payout Report)
We sourced this information from our list of Christmas Cheer Boards and a list of food
banks from Prairie Mountain Health. The rural portion of the funding was distributed based
on the recent number of families served in each case.
It is worth noting that more than 20,000 families in the rural area receive food hampers from Christmas Cheer and food banks annually. On behalf of the provincial government, the Registry congratulates each organization on receiving this additional funding and wishes them success in their missions.

Our Misson
To provide Christmas dinner and gifts for children for families in the Westman area who would otherwise go without.
Adopt a family
Businesses, organizations, and individuals can adopt a family to provide them with hampers filled with food, toys, and other necessary items. By working together, we can ensure that no one is left out of the holiday cheer. We invite you to join us in our mission by adopting a family of your own.
