Gift In Kind
Christmas Cheer Office
In addition to donations of cash, donations of food, toys, and gifts are also eligible for a tax receipt. A sales receipt/invoice indicating the cost of said donation must accompany the donation to be eligible for a tax receipt. The tax receipt will reflect the amount on the receipt less any taxes (as per CRA regulations).

Employment Benefits

Some employers have a pay cheque deduction option or have a 3rd party, such as Benevity, handle donations.

A tax receipt is usually issued by a 3rd party.

Processing fees usually apply. You may or may not have the option of adding those fees to your donation and thus tax deductible.

Some employers convert volunteer hours into cash donations to the charity of your choice.

Consider passing the hat or organizing a fundraiser such as a silent auction and donating the proceeds.

A tax receipt is issued in the name of the business unless otherwise specified. However, individual tax receipts will be issued upon request.
